I Know Where America’s Missing F-35 Is Going To Show Up This Week: COTD

Have you ever gone through the terrifying experience of having a beloved pet escape? I haven’t, but I can only imagine the anxiety and the sleeplessness one gets after a fluffy one legs it from your home. Then, with a heavy heart, you have to put up posters around your neighborhood and bulletin boards of local stores. Well, you’re not alone because that’s seemingly what the U.S. Government is going through right now as Joint Base Charleston says it sort of misplaced one of its Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning II fighter jets.

Apparently, this happened after a “mishap” where the jet’s pilot went all “ejecto seato, cuz” while the aircraft was still operating on autopilot. Considering the lack of reports of a big fireball, it’s reasonable to estimate that the aircraft went down into a body of water. The feds are currently checking an area around Lake Moultrie, not far from Charleston, S.C.

They better search fast, or else I’m going to have something really sweet for this Friday’s Mercedes’ Marketplace Madness. How about a huge discount on an $80 million or so jet?

Parsko wins COTD with:

For Sale: F35, slightly used, slightly wet. $30m, we know what we got.

The replies were equally gold, from Pisco Sour:

Ran when ejected.

Ben:

Never buy a flood plane. Or a flood plain. Neither are worth it at any price.

Rollin Hand also had a good chuckle out of me:

To be fair, premature ejection is becoming more common in younger men.

Beached Wail:

$89 million aircraft. $29 AirTag. Just saying…

Lokki:

So the Air Force can’t even track their own F-35? That there’s some good Stealth!

Oh my, the comments in that one are just too good. Thanks for the Monday laughs, everyone!

  1. Hello to all I will give the chance that the F-35 is submerged in one the Santee lakes and finding it will be a chore but the NAVY has released a statement that the planes transponder was not working either prior to crash or damaged in the crash.

  2. It’s fun how I’ve read in two different let’s call them places or articles where it’s been found already but then I wake up this morning and there’s an article saying that the aircraft might just be still flying by itself I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if I read an article that all the sudden the plane appeared in China or in Russia it’s pretty scary the times that we’re living in nowadays you don’t know who’s the real bad guy.

  3. The plane is found. Well, the debris field was. It’s about 85 miles northeast of Charleston, which sounds far, but wouldn’t take a fighter jet long to cover depending on its speed, maybe 15 minutes give or take if it was cruising around 300 knots on a direct line.

      1. Too late. Our local US Rep is demanding answers about the lack of transparency into the event. By tomorrow morning she’ll be blaming it on Biden’s age.

          1. She has not she stated is there no tracking device installed? Yes all airplanes has them it’s called a transponder. Is she taking courses from AOC of New York?

    1. Well, that kills the fun. I’m going to have to edit my fake Facebook listing now.

(I didn’t actually post a listing, just used the inspect tool to edit a still page.)
